My name is Marc Rodger, I'm 35 years old,my sponsors are Middy Tackle & Bag'em matchbaits.
I started fishing around 9, my Dad took me and my big brothers to Grimsby Docks to catch bullyheads on a blob-line.
I soon realised I was going to be the better angler when one of my brothers got a bite, panicked and dropped the
whole blob line off the 10ft dock wall.
I started down the fresh water fishing route when Father Christmas bought me a Argos rod. 6 months and a lot of bank time
later I caught my first roach, a very fine 2oz specimen. I was obsessed before I caught anything so I don't know how to
describe what being able to actually catch a fish made me! Every weekend and even the odd school day found me sitting around
the local boating lake in Cleethorpes sometimes hidden away in the bushes to avoid the truancy officer. In the early days most of
what I learnt was trial and error but I was lucky enough to get inspiration from watching the odd international match that was
staged at Cleethorpes boating lake, carrying the gear for and sitting behind the late Frank Barlow is an experience I'll never forget.
Another early influence on my fishing was Barnsley Blacks angler Tony Woods, he took me under his wing taking me to Winter
League matches on the River Witham to watch and learn how to catch Roach on rivers, I went on to fish for the Grimsby Vikings,Lincs County,
Van Den Eynde Scunthorpe and I'm currently with Garbolino Ossett.
